NAE has been recognized by the HR Certification Institute (HRCI) and Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) to offer recertification credit. In order to remain compliant, HR certified professionals are required to continually take classes and earn a certain number of credits to meet specific requirements for either the SHRM or HRCI certificates.

We have you covered as we frequently hold webinars and in-person training courses to help you and your team earn the required credits. Most NAE trainings and webinars that are open to the public are eligible for HRCI & SHRM recertification credit.

While HR professionals in our community can take these offered trainings without being a member of NAE, membership does come with a lot of perks!

HRCI & SHRM Recertification Credits for NAE Members

Additionally, HR professionals can earn recertification credit and discounts on exam fees just for being employed by a NAE member organization. NAE has partnered with HRCI to offer NAE members the following benefits:

  • Earn up to 12 Recertification Credits per renewal cycle.** Three (3) credits per full year of Nevada Association of Employers membership (to a maximum of 9 credit hours) under the membership category and three (3) Business credits (1 per year for Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) credits) under the continuing education category. If your HRCI credential does not require Business credit, the credit type will default to HR General credit.
  • Availability of a HRCI Recertification Concierge to quickly resolve questions and issues
  • $50 discount off the Associate Professional in Human Resource™ (aPHR™), Professional in Human Resources (PHR®), Professional in Human Resources – California® (PHRca®), Senior Professional in Human Resources® (SPHR®) or Global Professional in Human Resources® (GPHR®) exam fee.

HRCI and SHRM Recertification FAQs

NAE has partnered with Catapult Employers Association to offer live online and self-study courses to prepare for aPHR/PHR/SPHR and SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification exams.

Documentation showing proof of membership must be provided if you are chosen for a recertification audit. If selected for a recertification audit, contact NAE for proof of membership.

Many HR professionals get both. They are both widely recognized and highly respected certifications for the human resources profession. Which certification you get depends on your goals. For example, HRCI offers certifications with focus on HR laws, regulations and practices unique to California and international certifications for HR professionals outside the United States; SHRM currently does not.

Most trainings offered by NAE are pre-approved for HRCI and SHRM recertification credit. Trainings that have received pre-approval for HRCI and/or SHRM recertification credit will include the HRCI and/or SHRM logo with the number of credits available for attending the training. On demand trainings or trainings only open to NAE members are not eligible for HRCI or SHRM recertification credit.
